We were even hearing from some of our Boys On Twitter that they were loving the conversation! We were so excited to connect with Liz on Twitter and delighted to have her on the show. Girlfriends Talk Radio: Different Types of Mom Relationships @Ciesla504 and @DailyDimmick

Mother’s Day may be a Hallmark holiday, but it is still a very important day to celebrate the women who have brought us all into this world or who have helped us to survive the circumstances of life. Sometimes these relationships have been magical and other times they have been challenging, but this is a day that comes around every year and that gives us the opportunity to show gratitude and appreciation for moms.
What kind of card do you get for the mom who wasn’t always there for you?
How do you celebrate Mothers Day when your mother is no longer living?
What do you say to the child who doesn’t want to celebrate you as a mom?
Life isn’t always easy, but we always have the opportunity to grow and learn from every experience.
In this episode of Girlfriends Talk Radio, we were so very fortunate to be joined by the Girlfriend of the Month of May Kimberly Ciesla and Mistah Sistah, Stephen Dimmick who shared their thoughts and experiences about motherhood and Mothers Day with us. BTW, we also shared a few thoughts on the Forbes article about Klout, in keeping with our obsession with social media!
Thank you for joining us. Enjoy the show and please leave your thoughts and stories in the comments to share with us!
Happy Mothers Day to all of the moms in Social Media Girlfriends!

1. What are you most passionate about in life?
I am most passionate about my family! My Twitter Bio pretty much sums it up “Love my family, Love my Life! Italian Mom and Wife.” Being born and raised in a large and loving Italian Family I have learned that family is what is most important in life. Your family is what makes everything else in life worth living. I have a plaque that hangs in my kitchen that says “Sempre Famiglia” which means “Forever Family” in Italian. All of my hopes, my dreams and desires are all connected by one common thread, my “Sempre Famiglia”.
2. What is your greatest accomplishment in life so far?
The greatest accomplishment in my life is my family. Finding and marrying, my best friend, my “Soul Mate”, my husband 27 years ago has started me on the most amazing journey in life! We have a great loving marriage, built a successful family business and raised two beautiful, amazing, and kind children that continue to bring us great pride and joy into their adulthood. Our daughter recently graduated and is an RN, and our son has just completed his freshman year at Michigan Tech! I can honestly say that my life has truly been blessed.
3. Who has been the most inspiring teacher in your life?
The most inspiring teacher in my life has been my mother. She taught me how to give unconditional love and support and to be there for each and every member of your family no matter what. Shortly after my father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly my mother gave me this one great piece of advice. She said: “Life is short ~ Make a memory!” She said “Take the time to make a memory each and every day with your family, your husband, and your children, because in the end that is what will live on in their hearts long after you have gone.” I miss my father every day, but the sweet memories that we made together will live on in my heart forever!
4. What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago?
Ten years ago I had just turned 40. I would tell my 40 year old self “Don’t forget to take care of “YOU” Make sure that while you are out there being everything to everyone to be sure to give enough time and attention to your self, your health, and your soul. Nurture yourself! Spend plenty of time with the important women in your life!
5. What is the most important quality that you look for in a friend?
The main qualities that I look for in a friend are loyalty, trustworthiness, kindness, and FUN. I love to meet and get to know new friends. I have a very open heart and do my best to give back the same
I love a friend that I can be myself with, be silly, have fun and laugh!
6. How has social media changed your life?
Social media has given me so much especially in the past year! It has allowed me to grow personally as well as professionally in so many ways! It has opened up the world to me to connect and meet people and friends from all of the US (and Canada;) that I may never had the opportunity to do so before. Some of my Social Media connections have become wonderful longtime friendships that have been brought offline and continue to grow.
7. Do you have any social media tips for making friends?
Social media tip: Be open! Engage! Socialize! Follow back and strike up conversations with people even if you don’t think that they are your “type”. I believe that everyone comes into your life and everything happens for a reason. If you keep the door open you never know who or what may walk into your life.
8. If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you?
Julie Roberts
Not only because we have the similar long reddish hair, but I feel that she has already played so many roles that could be considered to be a part of me. She is a strong, beautiful, romantic, and loving woman with a great smile and laugh. I love to smile and laugh! I think she would be the most amazing girlfriend and I can only hope that all of my girlfriends and family think the same of me?!
9. What is your favorite quote?
As you may already know, I love quotes! Especially positive quotes! Two of my favorite quotes are:
“Friends are the flowers in the garden of Life“
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
10. Tell us your favorite thing about the Social Media Girlfriends community…
I love how the Social Media Girlfriends brings together positive and inspiring, women from across the globe into a cozy community “nest” welcoming, loving and supporting each #SMgirlfriends for the uniqueness that she brings to the group. So empowering!
Girlfriends Talk Radio with @KenScheer on Celiac Disease and Food Allergies

We have to feel good if we want to walk in our greatness, so this episode of Girlfriends Talk Radio is all about what we put in our bodies as we step into our magnificence!
More specifically, we talked about how to rock a healthy lifestyle with Ken Scheer about gluten free eating and how to eat out at restaurants when you have food sensitivities or allergies. Ken shared his story with us about how he realized he found out he had Celiac disease and what he has gone through since then. May is Celiac Awareness month and Ken is doing a lot of important work educating the community about allergies and food intolerance and changes that restaurants and food establishments can do to accommodate these increasing needs.
Do you have food allergies, sensitivities or Celiac disease? Please share your experience in the comments while you enjoy the show!

Girlfriends Talk Radio: @KCBruno of @MontageBH Talks Luxury, Motherhood & More!
When was the last time that you really took the time to celebrate the simple wins that you had in a day? Do you do this regularly? Do you ever spoil yourself? This is beyond self care and more about celebrating life and the many moments that you love in your life. We believe that we have to create these types of moments as often as possible in order to truly love life.
Celebrating moments and accomplishments is more than having a party once a year (or once every 10 years). It is so important to take the time to honor special moments every single day. So, on the show today, we talked about luxury. Luxury has to do with the finer things in life (you know… champagne, caviar, fabulous shoes) but it also has to do with treating ourselves to things that remind us how amazing life can be.
Whether you are a mom or not, life can get overwhelming. We all know this, but the challenge can often be simply fitting this type of awareness into our schedule. If we want to feel happy, fulfilled and successful, we have to plan the moments that make us feel good. Whether that means treating yourself to a fabulous vacation once a year, going to a delicious meal at a beautiful restaurant or simply getting together with your Social Media Girlfriends once a day… commit to making your life fabulous!
Speaking of fabulous, in order to bring this conversation of luxury, motherhood and publicity full circle, we invited Kacey Spies Bruno, Director of Public Relations for the Montage Beverly Hills and Montage Laguna Beach to join us on the show. Kacey shared some great ideas about how to get together with your friends to celebrate your moments together, how to involve your children in your work and she even gave some great ideas for Mothers Day gifts!
Most importantly, we had the amazing fortune of being able to bring this show to you straight from our beautiful suite at the Montage in Beverly Hills. We are so grateful to the Montage for being such an inspiration for us and for being such a great example of exceptional customer service. This is our moment of celebration and luxury and we are sharing it with you. We are so grateful!
Now, what are you going to do today to pamper yourself while celebrating the moments in your life? Please do tell… in the comments!

- What are you most passionate about in life? My journey to becoming a full manifestation of everything I was created to be…and bringing as many as I can along with me to realize their full potential!..That’s what drives me everyday to do what I do. I know that each of us have the chance to grow to heights we never imagined possible…both personally and professionally, in all areas of our lives, when we set fear aside, and truly lay hold of the dream in our heart. My business with Rodan + Fields Dermatologists, honestly, is less about a big-name skincare brand and so much more about giving someone a vehicle to release that sparkle inside and create a lifetime of seeing their dreams come true!
- What is your greatest accomplishment in life so far? I would say that my greatest accomplishment isn’t necessarily tangible, or nor marked by a specific date…but simply becoming more and more certain of who I am, being happy with who I am, and being totally comfortable knowing that the Lord isn’t through with me yet! I am a constant work in progress. As for something more specific, marrying my husband was quite awesome, I do have to say. That was a major milestone in my life. He really is my best friend…we are building a wonderful marriage together!
- Who has been the most inspiring teacher in your life? Oh, goodness there have been so many along the way. One of my partners and good friends is such an incredible example of a “servant leader”…and she’s been blessed abundantly for this reason…I learn a ton from her and technically she is a teacher…she used to teach kindergarten, but has achieved massive success as a young entrepreneur. I have to say that my father really ranks up high on my “inspiring people” list. He was very poor growing up. He and my mom married a month out of high-school, having absolutely nothing, but he started a welding service at 20 and over the years has transformed that into a very successful and well-respected company within his industry. I’ve always had his “entrepreneurial” nature in me, so it’s been often that I’ve sought his advice. One time several years ago I was struggling with a situation where I was feeling really intimidated by a prospective client. I honestly can’t remember details, or even who it was…but I’ll NEVER forget what he told me. He said, in a very matter-of-fact manner, “Tiffany, they can’t eat you!” I literally laughed out loud, and I still laugh when I think about it, but it held so much truth…the point was that I shouldn’t be intimidated by anyone no matter who they are, or who I think they are, because at the end of the day…it is just a person. And no matter how they may respond to me, my business proposal, my ideas, and so on…I’ll still be standing. They won’t eat me! LOL!
- What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago? Ten years ago I had just turned 21 and was a junior at Texas A&M. I would tell 21 yr old me to forget all about boys…spend time having fun with your sister and your girlfriends making memories!
- What is the most important quality that you look for in a friend? I look for trustworthiness most importantly, and someone who sincerely supports me in pursuing my dreams. I only hope that my friends would say that’s what offer to them! It’s important that we can have great, fun conversation together too…I’m a “talker”…I thrive on a good gab session!
- How has social media changed your life? Wow…It’s been such an incredible avenue to connect with incredible people I would have never met offline, but who are now such an integral part of my “every day”. In just a few months I have created some precious friendships and business connections with people from all across the US as well as a few other countries! I often tell people that I feel like I make friends for a living, since my business is so deeply rooted in building personal relationships. How else, honestly, could I have the ability to meet and engage freely with so many great people every single day?! Twitter is completely transforming the way I build my empire of fabulous!
Each day it becomes more and more obvious that it is transforming business in general…it’s a bit mind-blowing. I’m just so incredibly grateful to have met Dabney and Britt so early on in my SoMe experience and have the chance to learn from them and have their invaluable support….my life abounds with Diva Dust from my #SMGirlfriends
- Do you have any social media tips for making friends? HAVE FUN! Reach out. Be yourself…and if you can’t tweet something nice, don’t tweet anything at all
- If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you? Reese Witherspoon! Being from Texas, and “blessed” with a strong accent there is almost nothing that can ruin a good movie for me more than a fake southern twang! Haha! I think she and I are about the same height (short) and I believe she’s from Tennessee, so she can rock her natural drawl. (do you remember “Sweet Home Alabama”?) Besides all of that, I’ve just always thought she was the cutest, sassiest actress. I’m a big fan.
- Favorite quote: “Both FAITH and fear require you to believe in something that you can not see.”
- Tell us your favorite thing about the Social Media Girlfriends community… I just LOVE our daily minichats! I ALWAYS look forward to 11 am CST….and it’s because of the people who are there in the stream! Social Media Girlfriends creators Dabney Porte and Britt Michaelian must really have some secret awesomsauce, or maybe it really is magical Diva Dust because the women (and some men) who have been attracted by this phenomenon are so fun, interesting, inspiring, uplifting, creative, kind…I could go on and on! What’s so amazing is that we are all very different, and we bring different personalities and experiences to the group, but we have this really special common thread…we all truly love to network, build friendships and support each other in our various projects. It makes for a rich interaction that’s “somuchfun”! And, yes, I called Social Media Girlfriends a “phenomenon”! I totally believe that it is and I could be happier to be a part of it!

Women and Leadership on Girlfriends Talk Radio with @TeamRickiTracy of 20th Television

One of the reasons why we created Social Media Girlfriends was to provide a space where women would be encouraged to walk in their greatness and support each other in this endeavor. We were inspired by the Dalai Lama’s speech in 2009 where he said that the world would be saved by the Western Woman. We talk about this often because it truly is the inspiration behind Social Media Girlfriends.
The importance of having a community that inspires women to step into their roles as leaders in the home, in business and in the community is becoming more and more relevant in the media, so we invited a woman who inspires us, Tracy Leadbetter Taw to share her experience of leadership in her job as Director of Programming and Development at 20th Television (a division of Fox) and as a mother of 2.
We (along with the rest of the #smgirlfriends) were on the edge of our seats as Tracy shared how she and the team at Fox decide what types of programs to green light and how this plays into viewership and ratings. Tracy was an absolute delight to have on the show and if you have ever wanted a glimpse into the power that an ambitious woman effortlessly exudes, you will LOVE this episode of Girlfriends Talk Radio!
